Nestled in the northwest corner of RI, the village of Pascoag, part of the Town of Burrillville, has a population of nearly 5000 and represents a rural EMS experience for our fellows.
With six surrounding fire districts in two towns covering nearly 30k citizens, this catchment area provides a unique exposure to care in the prehospital environment far from definitive care.
The Pascoag Fire Department supports MD4, our physician response vehicle, which is outfitted to augment ALS level of care provided on scene. The physician on MD4 can access paramedic level drugs on many local ambulances, and carries equipment for hemorrhage control, airway management and invasive procedures such as needle/finger/tube thoracostomy.
Additionally, in 2020, we will start carrying our own Rapid Sequence Induction medications to facilitate emergent airway management when not intercepting with a paramedic level vehicle.
