1.MDR.6.2
Objective:
Students will tell and write time to the hour and half hour in everyday situations, distinguishing between a.m. and p.m., without working on problems that cross from one to the other or involve elapsed time.
Students will connect their understanding of measurement on a ruler to reading timelines and clocks, building a foundation for understanding elapsed time and using comparative terms such as “longer than” and “shorter than.”
Standard written out:
1.MDR.6.2 Tell and write time in hours and half-hours using analog and digital clocks, and measure elapsed time to the hour on the hour using a predetermined number line.
Lesson Plans
Numberline on board (aligned to a model clock)
Classroom set of clocks.
Clock numberlines for each student
Big hand and little hand
Dry erase markers
PPT opener, story/game/ anchor chart
Timer
Objective:
Students will be able to compare objects using the terms longer and shorter.
Students will measure objects using nonstandard units (Unifix cubes)
Standard written out: Measure the length of an object by selecting and using appropriate tools.
Objective: Students will measure various images with centimeter blocks and be able to determine if they are less than, greater than or equal to each other.

Objective:
Students will be able to use a ruler to measure an object in inches with 80% accuracy.
Students will be able to use a ruler to measure an object in centimeters with 80% accuracy.
Students will be able to estimate the length of an object with accuracy.

Objective:
Students will use nonstandard units such as blocks or hands to measure and compare objects, while learning measurement words in both English and Spanish (long/short = largo/corto,
Standard written out:
· CD-MA4.4a: Demonstrates an understanding of measurement by using nonstandard units to measure objects.
· CD-MA4.4b: Compares objects using measurable attributes (longer/shorter, taller/smaller).
· CLL8.4a: Uses language to describe and discuss mathematical concepts and relationships.
