Sign up process

1.

The Bromley-Lewisham Pool is designed to allow the groups in Lewisham to sign up new supporters, in the street or on the doorstep, using a tablet or phone, just by taking first name, second name, and email address. That is why the short form is limited to just the first three fields of this underlying form.

So the first stage, of collecting an email address, is just the beginning: it's important that there is a chance, indeed a necessity to come back to the fuller version to collect all the preferences and consents as shown in this form image.

2.

So just with the first three obligatory fields filled in, the potential supporter is released to go his or her way. They will shortly get an "opt-in" email saying this:

(the "LIST:ABUSE EMAIL" field will be replaced with the email address provided as the reply address)

3.

By clicking on "Yes, subscribe me to this list" the supporter will access the sign up form again, in the form of a "manage my preferences" form, first passing through a "CAPTCHA" screen

4.

Then finally, the supporter gets back to the first sign up form with name details already filled in and email address in an anonymised form. The recruit has a chance to sign consents that are appropriate for where they live and how much they want to engage with the groups in this area and nationally.

After completing the missing parts of the form the important section for GDPR compliance is the last one, adapted from the Mailchimp GDPR template. The tinyurl link takes you direct to the document shown on this page.
