Nedstrand

We are almost 1000 people living in the Nedstrand peninsula, but in holidays the number increases substantially. Nedstrand is a well known place to enjoy the mountains, the sea, our history and the charming village og Stranda. Nedstrand used to be a municipality, but that is 50 years we have been part of Tysvær municipality. People live in all parts of Nedstrand, but our two main villages, Hinderåvåg and Stranda are a little over 3 km apart. Here you will find schools, the church, 3 shops, a brewery (that had to close this winter because of a fire, we hope it will open again soon), Høyt og Lavt climbing park and our famous destination Himakånå, a dramatic rock formation with high instragram-factor and thousands of visitors annually. We also have a guest marina and a ferry terminal where a fast boat also can take you to Stavanger in a little more than an hour. The local museum ha an´restored ould custom house from the sixteen-hundreds . Below the map you will find hiking suggestions.
