In class, we discussed the history of London and its relation to the Thames River. Then we looked into the different aspects of civilization and city building which brought us to the concept of a "home". We were asked the question, "What makes a home?" which was to challenge us to think past the need for shelter and look into the other important purposes that come with calling something or somewhere, "home".Â
We also looked into how technology impacts cities as we delved into car culture and cycling culture. As the discussion of bicycles and cities that accommodate them came up, we also looked into reasons why cycling isn't as sought after in Cincinnati. London and Germany have cyclists constantly zooming by on the streets and it is treated as a normality however in the United States, cycling is seen as more of a leisure activity. This led to the question, "Why do you ride a bike?".
