Since March 2017 I have served on the leadership team for College Autism Network, which started as a nonprofit organization centered on advocacy, research and training related to autistic college students. In this volunteer role I have taken on a number of endeavors to expand our reach and impact, as well as served as a co-author on peer-reviewed journal articles with Dr. Bradley Cox.Â
My duties and deliverables have included the following:
Developing and facilitating the College Autism Network Virtual Association of Scholars (CANVAS), an online group for scholars and practitioners who conduct autism/higher education work to meet and collaborate. This has included coordinating and hosting meetings, overseeing working groups, facilitating one working group, managing a list-serv, communicating with scholars, and managing databases. Since launching in February 2018, we have grown our list-serv to more than 650 individuals, and our monthly online meetings generally boast more than 30 attendees.
Organizing the College Autism Summit Research Symposium
Co-creating a list of college autism-specific programs across institutions throughout the United States
Planning and delivered presentations at the College Autism Summit, including organing our annual Research Symposium
Facilitating a conversation with keynote Robia Rashid (creator of Netflix series Atypical)
Co-organizing a special interest group on postsecondary education for the International Society for Autism Research 2019 conference in Montreal
Engaging with current and prospective members of College Autism Network through emails and phone calls
