AIA BRAZOS

EMERGING PROFESSIONALS

OUTREACH - PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT - COMMUNITY

The AIA Brazos Emerging Professionals, as the group currently exists, began with Bark & Build.  In 2011, a small group of then-interns, looking for ways to get involved in the chapter and create resources for young professionals, came up with the idea for a sustainable doghouse competition.  This event would raise funds for animal welfare as well as much-needed architecture licensing exam study materials while also raising awareness of the profession in the Brazos Valley.

Since then, the EPs have started many new and successful initiatives - including setting up the study matieral library, initiating and arranging the chapter's monthly social gatherings, organising local building tours, and, most recently, developing an architectural gingerbread competition.  The group aims to increase community outreach efforts, provide professional development and educational opportunities, and strengthen ties within the architectural profession.

We are fortunate to have many enthusiastic and motivated young members in our chapter and many of our core Emerging Professionals volunteers continue on to join the chapter's Executive Committee.  If you would like to get involved in current initiatives or propose a new one, please contact the Emerging Professionals Director.

PROGRAMS

EXAM PREPARATION + STUDY MATERIALS

Since 2014, AIA Brazos has maintained a library of study materials available, free of charge, exclusively for members.  Our catalogue currently contains materials for all 6 divisions of the Architect Registration Exam.

Follow the link for more details and please contact us if there are additional materials for the AREs or other professional qualifications you would like us to consider purchasing as funds allow.

GINGERBREAD BUILD-OFF

AIA Brazos Gingerbread Build-Off is a one-day event where the design and construction skills of local architects, engineers, and contractors are put to the test by building gingerbread structures. The build-off competition is held each year in December where each team competes against one another for nothing less than the pride of their respective professions!

Please join us as participants, sponsors, or volunteers as the AIA Brazos Emerging Professionals work to raise funds for educational opportunities and increase cooperation with and awareness of the architecture profession in the community.

REP SPONSORED HAPPY HOURS

(Almost) every other month, the AIA Brazos Emerging Professionals arrange for different product representative to visit the chapter and sponsor a happy hour for our members.

This lets the reps get in front of multiple firms at one time while also providing the chapter with an opportunity to socialize with them and each other.  We open these happy hours to all members of the American Institute of Architects, so please stop by if you are passing through town!  (Check our social media for upcoming events.)

If you are interested in sponsoring a happy hour, please contact our Emerging Professionals Director.
