Let's Learn Literacy

My name is Octavia De Sa, I am a foundation phase student at the University of Pretoria. I am originally from Johannesburg. During the week I stay in Brooklyn, Pretoria and then on weekends I got back home to Johannesburg. Teaching foundation phase is my passion and it has what I’ve wanted to study and learn about for the past two years. After school, I wasn’t too sure what I wanted to study, so I took a gap year and went to England. I went to a small country town, called Shrewsbury. I didn’t last very long, about 4 months after I got their I decided it wasn’t for me, and I moved back to South Africa. I could not just stay at home and do nothing, so I went looking for a job and I came across, a teaching opportunity at a nursery school, and that’s where I found out that I absolutely loved children and teaching. I started teaching there in 2016, and actually ended up teaching there till the end of 2017, until I got into Tuks for my first year of studying teaching foundation phase. It was honestly the best decision I have made, and I wouldn’t want to change it for anything. I have made life-long friends, and memories.
