Previous: Acting Bridge
Because oh boy, were there a lot!
Initial ideas for style and coloring. You can see two early ideas for two different areas and times of day.
Originally, the second half was going to be a chase into a forest, but it ended up being a pretty contained fight as I wrote it No "forest cut" exists, but I did end up reusing the trees in this arc and a lot of other art.
Deciding inking, coloring, shading, bubbling, liquifying, etc.
Cover Mockups! There were finished after the whole arc was done, so I drew a lot from the last few pages for color inspiration. The initial sketches (visible at the very bottom) were done during the inking phase.
Color Scripts (how different contexts would be colored/lit)
In case you care about that step.
If not, there's even more concept art farther down.
A couple panels were actually redrawn as I moved to the inking phase, but not too many. Also, do not ever EVER do all your sketches without planning where every panel edge will be, I had to move everything around MULTIPLE TIMES to make it all consistent
Textless early version of the first page
please note: the SlantStones are all crooked and I had to fix them all because I am a bad planner :)
Other notable changes:
no crosshatching yet
a fewbackgrounds got adjusted
rim lighting is inconsistent
Alex also has a slightly older version of the sweater (hood is now crinkled)
Cool 2-tone version of the character bios
There were a lot of potential covers for this one! And I still want to do almost all of them! But I don't have the time!
