Delivery Arc Development

Welcome to the retrospective on the Delivery Arc!  Since I worked on this on and off throughout a year, there was a LOT changed, ESPECIALLY on the first page.  I felt like it would be cool to archive this all somewhere, so here's most of the significant previous versions and behind the scenes.

The first page was originally supposed to be a one-off joke as one of the first comics in Season 2.  And then I really wanted to continue it

Early coloration and completely different speech bubbles so the dialogue would still be visible.

Rewrite after Season 2 wrapped up with the reboot (second page had just been drawn).  I ended up cutting the direct reference to the reboot because it didn't really impact the story too much.  Julian is happy now

I ended up overhauling the entire page with proportion changes and pretty much an entire recolor once I finished the 4th or 5th page because it became clear that reading them back-to-back would be too jarring.  This actually STILL was not the final version, as I found some discrepant colors and effects.

6 months after the first page, I got around to the second.  Most of the Halloween comics were done at this point, so my artstyle had evolved a LOT during the course of Season 2

Experimenting with different speech bubbles.  Also, this page was originally shaded completely differently, but I had to change it for consistency later.   I still prefer how this looks

Almost the final!  The glowing effects were tweaked, Pop's gender was removed, a few changes were made so it was more on-model, and I squeezed in an entire panel for clarity in the final.  Also dialogue size was tweaked

A bit of dialogue changed, proportions were a little off, and the poster got removed, but otherwise this page wasn't modified too much since the sketch

I drew this during dinner it's probably canon

holding a duck but in color

I REALLY wanted to get this page right, so I did 2 variations of quick sketches and combined them.  This version better mirrors the preview panel I'm sure nobody thought was important at the time

As much as I liked the way the first version set up how much distance was covered, I also figured I should show other people helping since they were barely visible silhouettes and it wasn't clear what they were doing.

Mix of both with some changes.  Damage gets slightly nerfed in final

This is technically the first draft of this page.

Flat color panel I liked

I made a animated bit of one page based on a Spider-Verse meme

I didn't finish this page before asking for revision so I copy pasted the old comics and sprites.  This is the only time I have done this not for comedic effect and I probably should do it more because it turns out it saves time who would have guessed

First pass on Time Cop wasn't very good so I used a model I have as a reference point (I tried tracing it but turns out I can not model proportions and I did not like the lanky version)

No more dialogue
