Weather conditions in Okinawa around May
The average temperature in Okinawa in May is 24 oC (75 oF). It is considered comfort for sightseeing that is not too hot. However we expect a rainy season after the Golden Week (consecutive national holidays season), so the discomfort index will be tend to high as the humidity makes it muggy.

Recommended clothing
It is recommended to prepare both humid and hot clothing to enjoy a comfort stay in May In Okinawa. So, please prepare hygroscopic and quick-drying wearing as well as a countermeasure for rain.
Basically, short sleeves and pants, or one piece will fit to wear all day. However, to prepare for AC or take off when it gets wet, it is also recommended to put on a shirt as well. It is mainly cloudy and less sunshine, but the ultraviolet dose will be big so UV protection will be needed.
Also, preparing rain wear or a towel for a sudden shower will make you feel at ease. An all-weather foldable umbrella will contribute to a countermeasure for UV.
