What is an Anomaly?

Q. What happens during an Anomaly?

An Anomaly is a special event that serves as a turning point of the storyline of the game Ingress.

Enlightened (Green faction) and Resistance (blue faction) fight according the rules in a city at a set date and time. Since the rule set of every Anomaly series changes each time, an official rule set of this Anomaly will be published by Niantic.

There are many Ingress players around the world. An Anomaly is a sort of a festival where overseas players come together. It's okay to drop by even during your sightseeing trip. In fact, many players are looking forward to participating in this event.

Q. Can I participate in Anomaly even though I am a beginner of Ingress?

   Yes! We welcome new players!
The more players who participate in an Anomaly, the closer we are to winning. Please come to participate!

In Ingress, you need to become a level 8 agent to be able to use all items.
However, even if you are a level 1 agent, you can do something to help other agents.
In the situation where a large number of agents are attempting to capture the portal, it is very important to deploy resonators faster than the opponents. In this respect, there is little  difference in the resonator deployment speed between level 1 agent and level 16 agent.

Most of the team will generously support beginners. If you would like to become a level 8 agent by the day of the Anomaly, we have many agents who will help you do that.
The more novice you are, the more we recommend joining a team and getting support.

about Enlightened Rocks and Team registration

Q. What is Enlightened Rocks?

Enlightened Rocks is your contact point to team up with Enlightened agents. We ask you to register to verify that you are indeed an Enlightened agent.

Q. Why do I have to go through this cumbersome procedure to participate?

In Anomaly events, Enlightened agents are competing with Resistance agents. We need to identify your faction to avoid the other faction's agents blending in with our team.

In addition, we develop our own strategy inside our faction. We share our strategy only with registered agents, and are careful not to let the opposing faction know. This procedure is not only for the victory of Enlightened but also for making the game more fun.

   We appreciate your understanding.

Q. What are the benefits of registering a team?

The benefits of registering a team are as follows:

Q. Do I have to join a local community to participate in Anomaly?

Any Ingress players are eligible to participate in Anomaly. You can join a team even if you are not a member of your local community. Please check the page on how to join a team.

Q. I am a member of the local community, but a person accompanying me is not. I want to participate in Anomaly with that person. What should I do?

In this case, you can join a team with that person. You (the local community member) should register with Enlightened Rocks first, and get guidance from the administrator at the place where you are invited.

Q. I registered with Enlightened Rocks and have not received any response for several days. What should I do?

It depends on the situation how many days you will be invited to the community after registration. (Below is a guideline number of days.)

Q. Can I participate in Anomaly even if I go to the site by myself on the day of the event, without registering Enlightened Rocks?

  Yes.
You can participate in Anomaly at the site on the day of the event, even without registration.

Please visit the Enlightened Reception Desk a.k.a. "Midori na Madoguchi". We welcome you with a rule guide and support for newbies and returning agents. If you are lucky, you may be dropped in a special team.

On the day of Anomaly

Q. Do I have to pay to participate?

  No.
It's free of charge to participate in Anomaly battle. But, you should pay transportation and accommodation fees for yourself. Some related events such as the after party may charge a small fee.

However, GORUCK needs paid application.

Q. What are the event hours?

We are never sure of the exact event hours until Niantic (Ingress developer) announces the official timetable. We usually had the battles from 13:00 to 17:00 in past Anomaly events.

Q. Where should we meet on the day of the event?

Q. Once I register, is it prohibited to be late for the start time or to leave in the middle of the event?

  No.
It's okay to be late for the start time or to leave the event before the end time. You can play according to your own convenience.
However, if you are a member of a team, it would be better to notify your team members of your schedule in advance.
