Responsibilities:
Members will be offered staff development training through Education Minnesota. Examples include but are not limited to the Bargaining Conference and Summer Seminar.
Educate members in the areas of collective bargaining, research, training, and communication.
Poll the membership prior to negotiations to determine their desires for contract improvements.
Request the formation of a settlement committee to assist with positive community relations.
Present tentative agreement to membership for ratification in accordance with Constitution and Bylaws.
Form a Meet and Confer Committee comprised of the officers, Chief Negotiator, and other members as deemed necessary by the Executive Council to meet, as needed, with the District in matters outlined in Minnesota State Statute.
Member Engagement Committee: Devin Tomczik & Rowen Elsmore
Responsibilities:
Help give members opportunities to stay actively involved in the BFT and the community.
Raise morale and keep people feeling positive about the challenges the BFT and its teachers face. Plans events for the membership and district at large.
Events include: new teacher luncheon, fall picnic, winter fundraiser, spring picnic, recognition dinner, other events as needed

Responsibilities:
Serve on the Executive Council and Steward Council.
Serve on District, State, National, and BFT committees on issues dealing with professional growth (e.g. staff development, evaluation, etc.)
Act as an advocate for membership in professional issues.
Stay updated on professional issues that affect members and serves as a resource in matters related to professional issues.
Communicate and coordinate as needed with district personnel on professional issues matters.
Represent the union’s perspective by attending applicable committee meetings and meeting with district personnel as needed.
Promote union building through active involvement with professional issues and educate members on key professional issues as needed.
PDF Committee: Jennifer Berglund - BFT representative
Responsibilities:
Attend monthly PDF meetings, representing the BFT
Communicate PDF meeting information to building stewards
Legislative Committee: Kirsten Morcomb and Jennifer Corcoran, co-chairs
Responsibilities:
Coordinate communication between local elected officials and BFT membership
Organize district-wide political events
Lobby Day at the Capital
Education Minnesota Political Conference
Create ‘Get out the Vote’ materials and activities
Communications and Social Media Lead: Mary Klempke
Responsibilities:
Maintains BFT website and social media accounts
Works with BFT President and executive council in producing members newsletters
Provide membership with up-to-date BFT information
Facilitate communication between the BFT and members
