Because the Bachelor of Leadership for Change does not have specific discipline expectations of skills on intake (cf nursing or IT) and learners may come from a range of backgrounds, our approach is a standard generic degree entry requirement paired with a challenging selection process to recruit learners with a high chance of success. Both the Entry Requirements and Selection Criteria are applied for every leaner.
Entry Requirements
● If you are under 20, you must have NCEA Level 3 including 14 credits at Level 3 or above in three NZQA approved university entrance subjects, and Literacy: 10 credits at Level 2 or above, made up of 5 credits in reading and 5 credits in writing, and Numeracy: 10 credits at Level 1 or above, achievement standards – specified achievement standards available through a range of subjects, or unit standards - package of three numeracy unit standards (26623, 26626, 26627- all three required).
● If you are over 20, you must supply evidence of industry experience and/or alternative relevant qualifications.
● International students must also achieve a minimum overall IELTS (Academic) score of 6.0, with no band score less than 5.5, or equivalent, from one test taken in the preceding two years.
● Otago Polytechnic’s policy AP0520.03 English Language Requirements for Those for whom English is an Additional Language also applies.
In addition, applicants will need to demonstrate via an interview:
● Clarity in why, how and where they intend making a difference

All applicants will be interviewed to assess these attributes.
Selection criteria
If there are more qualified applicants than places available then applicants will be wait-listed in order of date of application.
