Esther is now the queen, and she and her Uncle Mordecai saved King Xerxes from an evil plan to kill him.
The King made Haman a leader of all the King's servants, which was the highest position besides the king. Haman is an evil man, and he hated Jews. He is prideful and loves his new position because it gave him a lot of power. Haman demanded that everyone bow down to him, but Mordecai refused to bow. He says that he can't bow to him because he's a Jew, and he will only worship God. This made Haman mad!
Haman proposed a plan to have the King sign a law that they can kill the Jews. Haman bribed King Xerxes with a lot of money, and he signed the law, not knowing that Queen Esther was a Jew.
When we look at this part of the story, we can see the plan that Haman made and know it is wrong - it's a sin. And while we may not come up with evil plans to hurt other people, we also have sin in our hearts. But, God our King made a way to rescue his people from their sin. Jesus took the punishment for our sins on the cross, and after 3 days in the tomb, he rose, defeating sin and death.
We can see that there's a big difference between Xerxes and God. Let's compare King Xerxes to God our King:
Was tempted by monet to make a law.
Listened to an evil man.
Is Holy and Righteous all the time. He isn't swayed by evil people.
Is a good, wise, righteous, and just King.

but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Pray and thank God for loving us even when we sin.
