Reminders: You're not just reading. You're telling a story!

*Project your voice to engage your audience. Most of them are children.

*Don't just read the words! Look at the pictures of the book. Try to convey the mood or momentum of the book using your voice.

Step 1. Find or install an audio-recording app in your cell phone or computer.

One of the most popular app is Voice Memo, which is a free app that comes with iPhone or MacBook. Refer to one of the videos below if you have never used Voice Memo before.

Step 2. Access the book that you are reading

Go to your Google Drive; under Shared with Me, find a folder named Bilingual Storytime, click open. Find a folder named Storybooks, click open. Find the book you are assigned to read from the list, click open. Find the language version that you are reading. The file is either a collection of images, or a text file.

Step 3. Find a quiet space, practice reading aloud first. When you are ready, record your reading page by page. Each page should be saved as a separate file. Name each file according to its corresponding page number in the book.

Step 4. Provide a self introduction. There are two options:

A. An audio recording, in which you will greet audience, say your name, and the book you are reading and its author (and illustrator if his/her name is on the cover.) Plus a recent photo of yours in JPG format.

B. A video recording in which you will greet audience, say your name. Ideally you can borrow a hard copy of the book you are reading from the library and hold it up to show audience while you introduce its author (and illustrator if his/her name is on the cover.) If you do not have the physical book on hand, then just say the name(s).

Step 5. Record a statement that indicate the end of the reading.

Step 6. Email all the files you created in Step 3-5 to your video editor.

Step 7. Your video editor will upload your recording into their video edit app, merge the images of the book and the reading of your partner to create a video. The video editor will send it to the team's WeChat group and ask for peer review. You should review the video carefully, and watch out for comments from the team. If there is any areas that need to be improved, please re-create that particular files and email to your video editor.
