BHRI RAG
Removing financial barriers to ethical, high-quality health research
Application Requirements
Applicants should submit:
✔ A completed BHRI RAG Application Form
✔ A research protocol, concept note, manuscript, or description of the activity for which support is requested
✔ A clear explanation of financial need
✔ Details of the applicable BHRI or BHRI ERC administrative fee
✔ Information about any existing or pending funding
✔ Ethical-review information, where applicable
✔ A curriculum vitae or brief professional profile
✔ Any additional document reasonably required for assessment.
BHRI will not ordinarily require applicants to disclose unrelated private financial information or complete personal banking records.
Submission of false, materially incomplete, or misleading information may result in rejection, withdrawal of support, or ineligibility for future assistance.
How to Apply
Applications are accepted online from the 1st through the 7th day of every month.
Step 1: Review the BHRI RAG eligibility requirements and applicable policies.
Step 2: Complete the BHRI RAG Application Form.
Step 3: Attach the required supporting documents.
Step 4: Submit the application to bhri.research@gmail.com by 11:59 PM Bangladesh Standard Time on the 7th day of the month.
Step 5: Receive the decision by the 14th day of the month.
After Selection
Successful applicants will receive a written decision specifying:
✔ The type of assistance approved
✔ The approved value
✔ Whether the support is full or partial
✔ Any amount payable by the applicant
✔ Conditions that must be completed
✔ The support period
✔ Any applicable reporting requirements
The recipient may be required to accept the decision and sign the BHRI Research Access Fund Award Agreement before the assistance becomes effective.
Support may be withdrawn where:
✔ The applicant provides false information
✔ Required conditions are not completed
✔ Duplicate funding is identified
✔ The proposed activity materially changes
✔ Serious ethical or research-integrity concerns arise
✔ The recipient misrepresents the nature of the award
Repeat Applications
Previous applicants may apply again.
Previous recipients may also submit a new application where:
✔ Their earlier obligations have been completed
✔ The new request is justified
✔ Continued financial need exist
✔ The request does not duplicate previous support
✔ Sufficient monthly allocation remains available
Where demand is high, priority may be given to eligible first-time applicants.
An applicant whose request is not approved may reapply during a later monthly cycle after addressing any identified weaknesses.
Authorship and Research Ownership
BHRI RAG support does not entitle BHRI, the Fund Committee, BHRI ERC members, mentors, consultants, or BHRI officials to authorship.
Authorship must be based solely on genuine scholarly contribution and accepted authorship criteria.
Unless otherwise agreed through a separate research collaboration:
✔ Applicants retain ownership of their research ideas
✔ Researchers retain responsibility for their data and analysis
✔ BHRI does not claim ownership merely because assistance was provided
✔ Applicants retain control over legitimate scientific conclusions and publication decisions
Administrative-fee assistance, mentorship, consultation, institutional support, or ethical review alone does not justify authorship.
Acknowledgement of Support
Recipients should appropriately acknowledge BHRI RAG support in relevant reports, presentations, manuscripts, or publications.
A suggested acknowledgement is:
“This work received institutional fee assistance through the BHRI Research Access Grant, administered by the Bangladesh Health Research & Implementation Initiative (BHRI).”
Where the support was limited to BHRI ERC administrative-fee assistance, the acknowledgement should accurately state the type of support received.
Acknowledging BHRI RAG support does not imply that BHRI or BHRI ERC endorses the findings or conclusions of the research.
Important Notice
Submission of an application does not guarantee:
✔ Full or partial fee assistance
✔ Acceptance into a BHRI program
✔ Institutional affiliation
✔ Ethical approval
✔ Expedited ethical review
✔ Research completion
✔ Publication
✔ Authorship
✔ Future funding
✔ Any other favorable academic or professional outcome
All decisions are subject to eligibility, financial need, the applicable assessment criteria, available monthly allocation, conflict-of-interest management, and approval by the BHRI Research Access Fund Committee.
