Dr. Tairin Sultana
Dr. Tairin Sultana is a physician and clinical researcher with postgraduate training in surgical oncology. Her research interests centre on breast cancer, patients’ experiences of surgical care, and the psychological dimensions of cancer treatment.
As Chairman of BHRI, she contributes to the organization’s strategic direction and the development of clinically relevant research. Her work connects clinical questions with structured investigation, with particular attention to patient wellbeing, research quality, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Dr. Sultana’s research focuses on breast cancer and the experiences of patients undergoing surgical treatment. Her interests include preoperative anxiety, surgical fear, psychological wellbeing, and patient-reported outcomes, with an emphasis on understanding needs that may receive limited attention in routine clinical assessment.
She has contributed to the development of breast cancer research examining anxiety and fear before surgery and psychological wellbeing after surgical treatment. Her research responsibilities have included study conceptualisation, methodological development, data interpretation, project coordination, and manuscript preparation.
Alongside her oncology-focused work, Dr. Sultana contributes to BHRI’s broader clinical and public health research portfolio. Her collaborative work includes clinical investigation, validation, and scientific writing, bringing a clinical perspective to the interpretation and reporting of research findings.
As Chairman, she supports BHRI’s institutional direction and collaboration among clinicians and researchers. Her leadership emphasises clinically meaningful research questions, ethical research practice, and the development of evidence relevant to healthcare in Bangladesh.
