SC Center of Excellence for Mobile Learning (CML)

Anderson University, July 2013 - August 2016

Funded by the SC Commission on Higher Education under the auspices of the EIA Centers of Excellence Grant Program, this project focuses on the purposeful integration of mobile technologies and mobile learning principles to support the development of a state-of-the-art teacher preparation program, provide innovative learning experiences in K12 partner schools, and serve as a statewide leader in training and professional development for inservice teachers and teacher educators.

Duties: Serve as principal investigator, project director, and lead researcher. Responsibilities included designing and conducting research related to the project, assisting in the management of the project, acting as the primary liaison between the district and school leaders, and coordinating technology uses.

Project TEAMS (Teaching Environmental and Multicultural Science)

Learning and Performance Support Laboratory, University of Georgia, June 2005 - August 2006

Funded by the Georgia Department of Education Teacher Quality initiative, this project focused on preparing elementary science teachers in diverse, multicultural settings and the use of evidence-based approaches for the assessment of teaching practices.

Duties: Served as co-principle investigator, co-project director, and graduate research assistant for a Georgia Department of Education Teacher Quality funded program. Responsibilities included designing and conducting research related to the project, assisting in the management of the project, acting as the primary liaison between the district and school leaders, and coordinating technology uses. Other duties included designing, developing, and maintaining the project website and submitting and obtaining IRB approval.

Preservice Secondary Science Teachers’ Utilization of Frameworks within the Evidence Based Decision Support (EBDS) Methodology and Tool

University of Georgia, May 2005 – August 2006

Funded by the Georgia Partnership for Reform in Science and Mathematics, this project is investigating preservice teachers’ use of an evidence-based method and web-based video analysis tool for self-assessment.

Duties: Served as co-principle investigator for a Georgia Partnership for Reform in Science in Mathematics funded project. Responsibilities include designing and conducting research related to project, recruiting participants, and submitting reports to the funding agency.

Evidence-based Technology Enhanced Alternative Curriculum in Higher Education (ETEACH)

Learning and Performance Support Laboratory, University of Georgia, June 2004-August 2006

Funded by the US Department of Education PT3 Initiative, the project focuses on preparing university faculty and preservice teachers to successfully integrate technology into their teaching and learning activities.

Duties: Served as a graduate research assistant for a United States Department of Education PT3 funded project. Responsibilities include conducting research on preservice secondary science teachers’ use of technology to assist in self-assessment and reflection. Other duties include assisting with professional development using the Evidence Based Decision Support methodology and the Video Analysis Tool and technology research and development.

Learning in/with Virtual Environments (LIVE)

Learning and Performance Support Laboratory, University of Georgia, June 2002-June 2004

Funded by the National Science Foundation, the project focused on the use of innovative modeling software for classroom instruction and web-based video tools for the analysis of teaching and learning.

Duties: Served as a graduate research assistant for an NSF funded project. Responsibilities included conducted research on inservice middle and secondary science teachers’ use of technology to assist in inquiry-based teaching and reflective practice. Other duties included assisting with professional development experiences and the design of materials and activities supporting the project.
