Notan: Artist Statement

This piece is called love in nature. The piece comes together to show things that are in nature, and the hearts attached to them. I have butterfly's that has hearts hanging from their wings and flowers with leaves made to look like hearts. My suns didn't exactly come out the way that I hoped, but they're unique. To me it represents my love of nature, I wanted to make a piece that was happy and that meant something to me, so I chose this. The big Idea is just that we should love nature, not hate or hurt it.

( Not everything went exactly as I planed but I just kept going)

Self- Portrait: Artist Statement

For my portrait I chose to make a digital version. When I was making it I made sure to keep and eye out for areas that were lighter or darker than others.  I then decided  where to put the black and white. I also wanted to make sure that I wasn't putting too much of one color in certain areas. This art work came out better than I imagined it would. I couldn't think of a title for it.

( Im not sure how to turn it around)

I wasn't be able to add the ink because I ran out of time

Contour Line Drawing : Artist Statement

When doing this drawing I wanted to make sure that my flowers were detailed enough. My main focus was making sure the flowers were detailed because without detail it would just be a blob. There isn't a deep meaning behind this drawing but I like to do flower drawings because It shows my love of nature. I feel like this drawing shows how beautiful nature is.

Creature Drawing: Artist Statement

This piece is called serpent rising. I chose that title because the serpent in my photo is rising out of the bag. My main focus in this drawing was detail. I feel like detail was very important for this project, because without detail, the bags and animals wouldn't be identifiable. This drawing doesn't have a huge meaning behind it, but it kind of shows my love of mythical creatures, because the serpent is based of a sea serpent.

Abstract Line Drawing: Artist Statement

For my piece I wanted to include many different types of lines. As you can see, even some shapes were created, such as triangles. I wanted to define the triangles a bit more, so I shaded them darker. The main tools I used were pencils and papers, and an eraser. My process included me using a ruler to divide the page up into sections. Then I used the ruler again to make sure the lines were straight, then I just started adding lines all over, I then proceeded to shade.  This piece honestly came out amazing and it is what I imagined. One of my goals as an artist is improvement with shading. I'm still trying to work on my shading techniques, but I feel like overall I did a pretty good job with going from dark to light and also using the smear technique.

Abstract Landscape Painting: Artist statement

My landscape painting is supposed to show a sunset, trees, and hills. For my painting I used red, white, blue, and green. For the hills I rapped with my brush just because I wanted to give it that grassy look. When I did my sun I used my finger and made dots. For this painting there is no significant meaning behind it, I just thought the image was really beautiful so I wanted to paint it. I feel like this project helped me to understand color more and helped me to think more about color schemes. My final piece came out better than I imagined it would. When I was in the process of painting and there were blues and oranges in random places I thought it was going to come out looking tacky but I actually like it.
