Please be sure to check your email daily while completing your RBT Internship. Due to most of our correspondence being on a remote platform (majority email) we rely heavily on email correspondence to support our team members. BCI policy is for staff to respond to emails within a 24 hour period. We understand that formulating a complete response or attending to tasks requested in an email may not be possible within 24 hours, however, in instances such as this we ask for our team to acknowledge the information has been received. A message back simply stating "I have received this information and will respond end of business day" can let others know:
You have received the email
You have acknowledged the email
You will get to the email and whatever may be required of you
You have set aside some time in the near future to attend to the task based on your availability to ensure its completed w/ quality.
This will help team members know how best to support you, and also increase our ability to trust that you are remaining on top of more advanced tasks as you progress through your training.
Interns who experience extenuating life circumstances (i.e. family or personal emergency) and fall behind on the required 40 hour coursework or miss a pre-scheduled skills clinic may reach out to BCI’s Training Coordinator in advance to request an extension prior to and no later than 48 hours of the missed clinic/deadline. The Training Coordinator will review each request and if appropriate, an extension will be granted. Only one extension or accommodation will be granted during the internship. Interns who miss required coursework deadlines or skills clinics will otherwise be removed from the RBT Internship within 48 hours. BCI reserves the right to remove interns from the training program at any time, with or without cause.
As a gentle reminder, we encourage proactive communication before deadlines are missed so we can support you with troubleshooting any barriers you may be experiencing for timely completion of assignments. Please let us know if an extension may be required so we can adjust the deadline for completion on our end to ensure you are successful with your training requirements.
As part of the RBT Internship attendance in all 4 phases of skills clinics is required. We do understand that unexpected disruptions may occur. The key is to communicate these challenges with us as soon as possible. Reaching out prior to any missed meetings, and deadlines will be essential practice moving forward in your career as an RBT. You can do this by emailing your RBT Internship Training Coordinator as soon as you learn of the disruption. We will try to work with you and troubleshoot any challenges that are preventing you from attending the scheduled meeting.
Whether communicating via phone, txt, email, live in person or live over remote interfacing we ask that each exchange between you and a team member be professional and courteous. Maintaining a professional appearance and background if interfacing remotely is required. Along with limiting distractions to support a conducive learning environment for all in attendance.
