Solitary is about being locked out from a relationship, where you feel alone while you still believe the other person can change.
Solitary was the first track that Before You Go ever constructed, starting off as a simple clip that featured an intro and outro (complete with guitar, bass, and drums).

You’re upset again tonight
I wasn’t looking for a fight
Would you please listen to me
This isn’t how things should be
I’m on the verge of losing my mind
I’m lost in the dark, still trying to find
Some reason to stay with you
Something I can cling onto.
What am I supposed to do?
You seem to play me for a fool
I want to try to make things work
But you’d rather put your pride first
I’m on the verge of losing my mind
I’m lost in the dark, still trying to find
Some reason to stay with you
Something I can cling onto.
We used to be
One mind, one heart
(What am I supposed to do?)
Now, we couldn’t be
Further apart
(I’m still losing my mind)
I feel abandoned, all alone
I realize now, I’m on my own
(In the dark, I’ll be hard to find)
