In July of 2020, the Board of Education accepted a donation from BCCF in the amount of $8545 to support the following grants:
BCHS Table Tennis Club – Ping pong tables purchased for the weekly after-school club at the High School.
Boogie Boards for 1st Grade – Students in Gina Baldwin’s Elsmere class will benefit from these boogie boards for activities in handwriting, math and more.
Simple Machines for 2nd Grade – These kits bring simple machines to the entire second grade at Glenmont for a hands-on approach to learning how machines work.
Bicycle Safety Road Signs and Signals – The addition of traffic signs and signals to Scooter City will provide students with a realistic environment for bicycle safety curriculum at Slingerlands, Hamagrael and Glenmont.
Model Apartment: Teaching and Improving Functional Living Skills of RISE Students - The RISE special education program at the High School is creating a model apartment area to foster students’ independent functional living skills.
Sphero Edu – Sphero Edu is a STEAM-based tool that will incorporate coding, robotics and critical thinking skills in Dana DiGiansante’s Glenmont classroom.
Multisensory Letter Learning – This grant assists kindergarten and 1st grade classes at Hamagrael with letter formation and proper handwriting techniques.
Coding with Ozobots – These Ozobots will be used in the Hamagrael library or classrooms to develop coding skills and to create applications.
Social Emotional Resources for Elementary School Aged Children – This set of Julia Cook books will be used at Glenmont to help teach skills such as problem solving, using better behavior and developing healthy relationships.
Hamagrael Garden – The 4th grade classes at Hamagrael will learn about recycling with the use of this composter.
Award Winning Book Sets for Literature Circles - The 3rd, 4th and 5th grade classes at Hamagrael will have new, Newbury Award winning book club selections.
Playing is Hard Work – The kindergartens at Hamagrael will have new play supplies that will grow their imagination and social awareness in a developmentally appropriate way.
Middle School Prep: Set of Classroom Combination Locks - The 5th graders at Glenmont will have combination locks available for practice before their transition to the Middle School.
Lively Letters – This program helps struggling readers at Glenmont, based on developing phonemic awareness, phonics and speech production skills.
