The faith formation of church community members, young and old, involves more than just the sharing of religious instruction.  Its chief objective is formation of discipleship in Jesus Christ and to prepare members to actively and joyfully proclaim the Good News to the world.  It seeks to promote knowledge of the faith by introducing the meaning of the Creed and Catholic doctrine, the meaning of the liturgical celebration and sacraments, the formation of moral Christian living, the growth of active prayer, and to actively participate in the life and mission of the Church in the community and in society.  

The faith growth of the Christian requires active seeking and ongoing learning, to conform to the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, our Master Teacher.  Here at St. James the Greater Church, we offer religious instruction beginning with our youngest members.

The Religious Education Program for Children at St. James the Greater Church seeks:

• To teach children to worship God in Spirit and Truth, especially through celebration of the sacraments.

• To nurture Christian values in the family, parish life, and in the community that we serve.

• To proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ to all, inviting young people to carry on this mission.

Our educational ministry offers children from ages 5 to 16 a basic foundation on the tenets of the Catholic faith in a structured and safe environment.  Our catechists work collaboratively and in partnership with parents who are their children’s primary educators at home.  

Students in our program are strongly encouraged to actively participate in the life of the Catholic Church through regular worship, sacramental preparation, and service in the community.  

First Communion and Confirmation classes are two-year sacramental preparation programs.  Sacramental preparation for First Communion begins in First Grade.  Sacramental preparation for Confirmation begins typically in Ninth Grade.

Religious Education classes are held on most Sundays from 10:00 – 11:00AM from September to June at the parish.  Registrations for the upcoming academic year for new and returning students are accepted beginning in June.

為堂區團體老少咸宜的信仰陶成，不單單是分享宗教教導。主要目標是在耶穌基督內成為門徒，為成員準備積極和喜樂地去宣講聖言福音。提供信仰知識，介紹信經，天主教義，禮儀聖事，基督徒生活陶成，恆常祈禱成長，熱切參與教會在堂區社會的生命和使命。

這信仰成長有頼積極和不斷的學習，遵從大師耶穌基督的訓導。聖雅各伯堂宗教教育由最年幼開始。

本堂的兒童宗教教育追尋：

• 教導他們崇拜天主聖神真理，特別透過慶祝聖事

• 教導家庭堂區生活和我們服務的社區的基督價值觀

• 向內外宣講耶穌基督的福音，邀請青年擔負這個使命

本堂宗教教育事功為五至十五歳的兒童少年在有系統和安全環境下，提供天主教信仰的基礎。我們的傳信老師和家長合作亙動，明白家長就是這些孩童在家的基本啓蒙教師。

我們強烈鼓勵學生透過恆常崇拜，準備聖事和服務社區，來積極參與天主教會的生活。

每兩年準備初領聖體和堅掁聖事班：第一年班準備初領聖體，一般來說第九年班準備堅振聖事。

宗教教育（主日學）一般在堂區毎年九月至下年六月星期日上午10時至11時。新舊學生新學年註冊由六月開始。
