Welcome to the Barratt Fitness website
I'm Georgia, a self proclaimed aerial fitness addict and I'm happy you have taken the time to come and learn a bit more about what I do.
I started my own aerial journey around five years ago, joining a studio to learn pole at first.
Back then, I was extremely shy, suffering with anxiety, gained significant weight and all around got myself into such a rut that I didn't really know what to do.
I had seen classes advertised in my local area before and although deep down really wanted to give it a go, just couldn't bring myself to do it. One evening, I saw a space open up on a wait list and with ample hesitation (and a good push from my now husband), I attended my first class.
Needless to say, I was hooked.
Not just because of the activity itself but the friendliness and sense of belonging I suddenly felt attending a class for the first time. It was an incredible sensation and one which I hold onto dearly.
Whilst attending Pole, I noticed Aerial Silks classes being taught at the same time and was curious by how graceful and interesting some of the moves were. So, with my newly re-established confidence, I took the plunge and gave it a try.
Five years on - you'll see me in a room full of students teaching them all about Aerial Silks, Stretch & Flexibility as a qualified instructor!
Honestly, Silks as a beginner can seem really daunting. After all, its fabric hanging from a section of truss, how could this possibly hold onto you or you hold onto it?!
But after my first class, I realised there were ways Silks could be adapted to allow me to progress, gain confidence and strength whilst still being able to participate in a class with lots of other people in the same environment.
From there, I kept growing and still continue to now!
I felt inspired to help others who are at their starting point, creating a space where everyone can feel safe, move their bodies how they want to without any expectation but with all the praise in the world when they do achieve.
I qualified as a Spin City Aerial Silks Instructor in August 2021 and opened up classes at KL Aerial Fitness Studio based in Witham in September.
I am expanding the range of classes I teach in different locations across the Essex region soon, so keep an eye on our social media where we will post latest updates!
Total openness and encouragement.
It sounds odd but understand that I am an open book. I remember what it was like starting up as a beginner and I keep this in mind throughout each class I teach whether that be in a group or as a private class one to one.
I will happily chat to you about anything you like when it comes to Aerial Silks. How to make improvements at home, work out where you are struggling, create a plan and ultimately send you away with some pictures you'll be proud of!
Read a few accounts from my own students who I am immensely proud of all their achievements!
I hope you have found a new desire to give this wonderful activity a go!
