I woke this morning from sleeping beside the road
Time to travel cross-country in search for a pot of gold
With my thumb for transportation and the good Lord by my side
I’ll meet my destination if I get a rideI got a ride in a diesel headed south for Mexico
The big man who was driving he said now where would you like to go
I said nowhere in special I’m just travelin’ on the road
I want to get me a job playing guitar before it gets too coldAnd the man behind the wheel said remember what I told ya
Play your twelve string guitar for me and let everybody know ya
Remember the good life, love and freedom
To keep your dreams alive, you just keep on believin’I got a job in Vancouver playing in a smoky bar
The pay wasn't bad for singing and playing my 12 string guitar
But the winter and the cold is now over and it's time for moving on
I can still hear that ol’ driver everytime that I sing the songAnd the man behind the wheel said remember what I told ya
Play your twelve string guitar for me and let everybody know ya
Remember the good life, love and freedom
To keep your dreams alive, you just keep on believin’
