(New York, NY — Nov. 1, 2025) — A new survey from GSP Polling finds the race for New York City mayor essentially deadlocked between former Governor Andrew Cuomo and Assemblymember Zohran Mamdani, with Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa far behind and incumbent Mayor Eric Adams in single digits.
According to the poll of 1,138 likely voters, conducted October 28–30, Cuomo holds a narrow lead with 40%, while Mamdani stands at 39%. Sliwa receives 16%, and 3% remain undecided.
“New York voters are clearly split between two very different visions for the city’s future,” said GSP Polling Director William Perez. “Cuomo’s comeback campaign is driven by older and moderate voters, while Mamdani continues to dominate among younger, progressive, and nonwhite New Yorkers. The city’s ideological divide is as sharp as we’ve seen in years.”
The small bloc of undecided voters (3%) skews slightly older and more moderate, a pattern that could marginally benefit Cuomo in the final stretch. However, enthusiasm intensity — measured by self-reported likelihood to vote — strongly favors Mamdani’s supporters.
Cuomo’s support is anchored among moderate Democrats, independents, and older voters, with especially strong performances in Manhattan, Staten Island, and Queens.
Among voters aged 50 and older, Cuomo leads Mamdani 48% to 32%, reflecting continued loyalty from centrist Democrats and some who view his prior governorship as a source of stability.
