The project activities took place in the school, at the library and in the City Hall, in the city and its surroundings (on Monday, Wednesday and Friday), in Barcelona (Tuesday), Tortosa and the surrounding area (Thursday).
Senia is a typical Catalan town in a beautiful rural area, a superb location for nature lovers, one of the points of entry into the Els Ports Natural Park, but also half an hour's drive to Delta de l'Ebre Natural Park. Buildings of more than 900 years are given back to the cultural circuit of the village, such as the Molí La Vella, an old mill that is now a museum and cultural center. Nearby is the town of Tortosa - the city of Renaissance - with a special charm: its streets, its people, the historical and artistic heritage, the landscapes around it, the river Ebro, all making it unique. Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia, 200 km from La Senia, is the second city of Spain, with an architecture that pervades the remains of the Roman period, the medieval fortress and the broad boulevards of contemporary urbanism, the city being also the birthplace of Catalan modernism at the end of the century 19th and early 20th century. As is well known, the exponent of this trend in Spanish architecture is Antoni Gaudi, the creator of Guell Park, considered to be the jewel of Modernist Barcelona. Casa Batllo and La Pedrera are some other spectacular examples of the Art Nouveau architectural style, with harmonious lines, natural shapes and decorative elements with floral motifs. The symbol of Barcelona is the Sagrada Familia Cathedral, one of Antoni Gaudi's representative works, to which he dedicated his entire life, the neo-Gothic style of the original construction being replaced by Gaudi's modernist style based on forms found in nature. All these elements representative of the Spanish people in the Catalan area were useful because they illustrated the rich theme of the project and were a continuation of the meeting in Bucharest where Nature was present in the project at the confluence between art and science.
There were also highlighted in the project aspects specific to the locality, the area being predominantly agricultural, with woodworking or construction activities. We visited an olive oil factory, saw the olive soap process and also saw how La Senia school students prepare for these crafts, making models of buildings, bridges, monuments or pieces of furniture.
