From organizing rescue missions and adoption drives to conducting educational workshops on responsible pet ownership and wildlife conservation, the club actively engages the campus in meaningful dialogue and action. Through their initiatives, they not only foster empathy towards animals but also inspire a spirit of stewardship among the future leaders of society. The Animal Welfare Club of IITG embodies the institute's commitment to social responsibility and ethical leadership, leaving a lasting impact on both its members and the broader community.
ACTIVITIES OF THE CLUB
The club will take up three major activities: –
a) Neutering/Sterilization - The club proposes to conduct periodic sterilization drives (annually) to maintain a controllable and healthy stray dog and cat population inside the campus.
b) Vaccination – Periodic vaccination drives (annually) to prevent dogs and cats from being infected with rabies, parvo, and other viral and non-viral diseases.
c) Responsible feeding - Create permanent animal feeding stations in hostels and other locations to support the feeders to feed stray animals responsibly. Animal feeders can carry out their responsibility at the proper place and allotted time without causing inconveniences to the residents. The construction of dog-feeding zones will also limit the movement and territorial fights among the dogs.
General awareness programs will be conducted in collaboration with animal welfare NGOs to make the campus residents aware of stray dogs' legal rights and behavioral traits and how to interact with them as per circumstantial needs.
Adoption camps will be organized to find appropriate homes for the campus puppies.
