This certificate is from a professional development I attended while student teaching at Victor J. Andrew High School. The title of the professional development activity is: There's More to Life than Q: D230 Educational Technology Tool Review. The certificate affirms I attended the professional development activity prior to having my PEL.
This certificate shows "understands when and how to adjust plans based on outcome data, as well as student needs, goals, and responses" (3D). Based on my students needs, using different technology tools are effective for student learning. In addition, by attending this PD it shows, "understands the appropriate role of technology, including assistive technology, to address student needs, as well as how to incorporate contemporary tools and resources to maximize student learning" (3E). After this PD, I was able to incorporate Peardeck, Padlet, and Canva into my lessons to enhance the use of technology. In addition, by using technology in the classroom, it is important to "establish high expectations 2for each student learning and behavior" (3H). Students know they are to be on task while using their Chromebook. Students know if they are found off task, they will be sent to in-school suspension as they signed a contract.
By attending this professional development on there's more to life than Q, I was able to learn of new resources through the use of technology in the classroom. It allowed me to utilize the technology in the classroom as well as use the resources the district provides for us. It provided me a new way for students to show assessment, knowledge, and more.
This essay was written for my Sophomore classes during my student teaching placement at Victor J. Andrew High School. It has a focus on differentiation/planned support that will occur while the lesson is being taught. It focuses on supports and resources inside but also outside the classroom.
This essay shows that I am aware and "understands cultural, linguistic, cognitive, physical, and social and emotional differences, and considers the needs of each student when planning instruction" (3C). In this lesson plan, I focused on the needs of individual students when planning this lesson. In addition, it shows I "understands how to co-plan with other classroom teachers, parents or guardians, paraprofessionals, school specialists, and community representatives to design learning experiences" (3F). I have collaborated with support staff as well as our staff in "The Center" who will assists students who need more support than what can be offered in the classroom. We have maximized opportunities for students to still succeed. Lastly, I "use data to plan for differentiated instruction to allow for variations in individual learning needs" (3J). This demonstrates using data as I have used students IEP/504 plans to see what would benefit them in the learning environment. Also, I work with their case managers to help make sure they are successful in the classroom.
By crafting this lesson plan, I learned about different ways to differentiate instruction. It also offered me insight on the individual needs of each student. It allowed me to see a different perspective on student leaning and allowed me to put it into practice.
