This contract was written during my student teaching placement at Victor J. Andrew High School. This contract focuses on classroom community values that are aligned with the syllabus. It includes the values and rules as well as the consequences that will follow after the contract is broken.
By creating and using this contract, it shows "understands principles of and strategies for effective classroom and behavior management" (4A). It allows for students to understand and know they are to behave in the classroom. In addition, it shows that I "knows how to assess the instructional environment to determine how best to meet a students individual needs" (4E). This demonstrates that I will be able to assess the classroom environment to decide if it affecting both the student and/or their peers which would lead to removal from the classroom. Lastly, it shows I have been able to "create clear expectations and procedures for communication and behavior and a physical setting conducive to achieving classroom goals" (4J). This shows that by going over the syllabus as well as this contract on classroom community, it establishes clear expectations that the student should follow. It also allows them to know of consequences if they misbehave.
By creating this classroom community contract, it allowed me to set clear expectation's for students and their peers in the learning environment. It also allowed for me to maximize instruction as students know how to behave in the classroom. By setting clear rules and expectations, students will be able to learn and thrive in the learning environment.
This email was written and sent during my student teaching placement at Victor J. Andrew High School. This email was used to inform a parent about unexpected behavior in the classroom. It demonstrates the consequences when a student disrupts the learning environment.
By sending this email, it shows I "creates a safe and healthy environment that maximizes student learning" (4I). This allows for me to make sure I am creating a safe and healthy environment and once that is disrupted, students will face consequences supporting their actions. In addition, "creates clear expectations and procedures for communication and behavior and a physical setting conducive to achieving classroom goals" (4J). This demonstrates that I have set clear expectations and once students break those expectations, they know I will be in contact with parents. Lastly, "uses a variety of effective behavioral management techniques appropriate to the needs of all students that include positive behavior interventions and supports" (4O). This demonstrates that I use behavioral techniques such as contacting parents/guardians when students are not responding appropriately. I also had changed the seating chart after this incident to better support students who may need more monitoring.
By sending this email to a parent, it allowed me to communicate with a parent about student misbehavior inside the classroom. It also allowed me to realize how am I managing a classroom and what changes I can make to maximize the learning inside the classroom without any disruptions.
