This rubric was created for my Sophomore's during my student teaching placement at Andrew High School. The rubric is used to evaluate student outcomes on their presentation.
This rubric demonstrates I "understands that assessment is a means of evaluating how students learn and what they know and are able to do in order to meet the Illinois Learning Standards" (7B). This rubric assess students learning of the chapters we were reading. I used this rubric to assess their learning. In addition, I "appropriately uses a variety of formal and informal assessments to evaluate the understanding, progress, and performance of an individual student and the class as a whole" (7K). This presentation allowed me to formally assess students on their presentations skills as well as being able to use textual evidence to support their answer. Lastly, I "maintains useful and accurate records of student work and performance" (7M). By using this assessment, I am able to determine what the next steps are with instruction and assessment.
By creating this rubric, I learned about the assessment process. I was able to create this rubric to target specific targets to hit on which were specific to my sophomore class. By understanding and creating this rubric, it allowed for me to better understand informal and formal assessments in the classroom from an educators standpoint.
This quiz was created during my student teaching placement at Andrew High School. The quiz evaluates students learning over the course of specific chapters from To Kill A Mockingbird. The assessment results allow for me as a teacher to see what the students are comprehending but also what they are struggling with.
This assessment demonstrates, I "understands the purposes, characteristics, and limitations of different types of assessments, including standardized assessments, universal screening, curriculum-based assessment, and progress monitoring tools" (7A). This shows this quiz is to monitor progress. This quiz was created as a purpose to test students knowledge about their comprehension of the chapters we read in class. In addition, I "uses various types of assessment procedures appropriately, including making accommodations for individual students in specific contexts" (7Q). In class, some students voice they rather take their quiz on paper rather than on the computer. I make sure to accommodate for the needs of students.
By creating this quiz, I learned about different types of assessment including formal and informal assessment. It has been useful creating different types of informal and formal assessments. The data from the assessment allows me to reflect on the teaching I have done as well as how well the students are performing and comprehending the material.
