How I made this classic Ford themed clutch plate clock from a scrap car part.
First find a large enough plate.
If the centre hub is too big, choose a plate that can have the hub removed
Drill off the heads of the rivets securing the hub
Then using a punch or drift, knock the rivet through to separate the parts
Next job is to remove all rust, wire brush on an electic drill etc.
I am lucky as I can use an industrial rust removing machine at work.
I then put it in primer before spraying gloss white
Time to get all pieces ready.
I printed a CD label and put it onto a blank white CD
Assemble the hour hand first, then minute, then second. Line them all up at the 12 o'clock position.
Once fitted, trial test by turning the wheel at the back of the clock mechanism, going through a 12 hour cycle to ensure hands do not touch each other
Never adjust the time moving the hands as this could affect the gearing inside.
There you have it, you own unique clock.
