Sprinkler Backflow

ASTERS  SPRINKLER  BACKFLOW INSPECTION   

A backflow device is also known as an RPZ valve which refers to Reduced Pressure Zone.  This device is installed onto plumbing systems to protect drinking water and water supply from contaminants.  RPZ valves are required when a house is equipped with a fire suppression system and/or lawn irrigation system.  

Every Asters homeowner is required to have backflow devices tested.  This is an annual requirement by ordinance of Lake County Public Works.  A firm has been hired by Lake County Public Works to keep track of the backflow program resulting in an additional charge being passed on to the homeowners.  

Accurate Backflow Testing offers a group rate of $75.00 per test and for houses that have two devices it will be $110.00 (2024 rates).  

The yearly test is a homeowner responsibility. The Asters  gets a group rate which will be announced before the test date, around October. If any repair work has to be done there may be extra charges and they will discussed with the homeowner.   Lawn Sprinkler Backflow can also be tested at an additional charge, owners need to work this out with John Bruder.

Residents interested in the group rate, sign up using the  sign-up sheet that will be circulated by a volunteer via email and are responsible to let the inspector in or have someone on site if they are not at home. A check for the current amount made out to “Accurate Backflow” must be ready.  If John cannot get into your home during the scheduled time, you will have to schedule the test independently and may not get the same rate. 

Because this process may involve some repair work, it is hard to give you an exact time.  Residents that will not be at home need to arrange for someone to open the door and let John in.
