Content Knowledge:
The teacher understands the central concepts, tools of inquiry, and structures of the discipline(s) he or she teaches and creates learning experiences that make the discipline accessible and meaningful for learners to assure mastery of the content.
Describe artifact that was used as the example for the standard
I have chosen to use my timeline and concept map from the measurement unit I created for my second graders. The timeline goes through each day and lesson that students will be learning. I also included a detail explanation of our day-to-day lessons and what was to expected. The concept map goes into detail about each lesson along with my standards, assessments, interdisciplinary integrations, literature I included in my lessons, instructional strategies, technology, and hands-on learning for the unit.
Give a rationale on why this artifact is appropriate
These two artifacts are appropriate because they both demonstrate the structure and disciplines of a complete unit. Through the unit concept map and timeline you can identify the different learning experiences students will experience throughout the unit. I identify many different types of activities including hands-on learning, inquiry based learning, guided instruction, and direct instruction to assure students met a mastery level of the content.
