Magnolia gets another new form in the Masques trait.
Incredibly powerful, Magnolia relinquishes all need for its own Counter Blast at the cost of needing to spend those Counter Blasts for generating Dragontree Markers.
MagMasq has the ability to allow all units with DT Markers to attack from the back row, so do ensure you place your markers on the right spots!
Forced Grow can exist solely because MagMasq no longer requires CounterBlast. With MagMasq being costless to use, Forced Grow allows you to revive RGs based on the number of markers on your side of the field.
You don't need too many of this, since you have to ensure that you have Counter Blast to generate markers. This comes in handy to revive cards that you need for pushing game or bringing Seroll back.
I considered not running Lepcol at all, but in general a free RG to be called when MagMasq is ridden seems pretty good. Lepcol itself hits for 28k on the turn that it is called if it's called to a RG circle with a DT marker, so it's definitely nothing to scoff at.
1 or 2 is probably sufficient though, so do make sure you don't play too many of this.
We run the Zorga Rideline because tossing things into the drop zone is completely fine. Forced Grow allows us to call it back and Lepcol is basically a free unit to be called. 6 orders to get the best out of the rideline if need be. Arguments for stronger hitters like Giunosla over Lepcol can be made (and is likely better), but Giunosla is a BT1 unit and I prefer to stick to more of the newer units during the playtests. Relatively consistent deck, I would actually play it more at locals.
Ominagruzio has got to be one of the most insane cards to be printed in Vanguard (let's not look at overTriggers). Ominagruzio allows for most players to simply auto-pilot the deck while pushing for control throughout the entire matchup. The deck focuses on reriding Ominagruzio and Masque, then binding your opponent's triggers so they cannot check defensive triggers for power.
Some have opted to take overTriggers out of the equation, by binding their overTrigger so they will never lose to a random overTrigger 100million power check, while others ensure that they play at least 1 of the trigger that they do not play for matchups where the opponent plays it. In most cases, this would be the Front Trigger.
The Masques version of the Ominagruzio is crucial to enforce the shield reduction. This also allows you to add more triggers to your bind zone.
Ominamasques has a restand ability at the cost of 2 rearguards being pulled into soul, to restand with -1 drive. 3 Drive checks while denying your opponent the chance to check defensives is pretty insane.
Incredibly simple effect. SC1 on call. Counts as 2 units when pulled into Ominagruzio for the restand effect. Saves you from another card minus since you only pull in a single rearguard, so it makes attacking lines more efficient as well (you attack with this behind omina so u can give trigger powers and effects to the side).
Ominagruzio/Masques is a really strong deck and likely contender for BDIF. Do give it a try and make full use of the G3s to truly experience how reriding on a Masque deck should feel like!
Orfist dons a mask and suddenly he's wrecking the nights.
Cardinal Mors brings extra drive to the table by calling over Shadow Army Tokens after you remove 2 or more World orders from the order zone. He provides multiattack by calling over Shadow Army tokens for as many Worlds that you remove as well. Make sure your Overcoming an Eternity worlds are still inside to provide more power to each token called!
Overall, very straightforward effect. Nothing to scoff at, it's good and efficient.
This card isn't a BT12 card but it's important to feature. Polarxis Dragon provides an extra chance to put an extra World order that you may have dropped for rideline, or to put an extra World in after you've already thrown 2 away from Mors.
Calling over it after Mors calls Shadow Army tokens also allows you to draw 1, which is very handy.
Good card for Masques decks.
Opart may turn some people off with the counterblast requirement, but is very handy for feeding the drop with World orders so that Polarxis dragon has a target. It also gives you an extra Shadow Army token to call, so you can have better columns when it gets retired. Very useful for Masques decks (and even Regis decks).
There isn't much to say about Orfist Masques honestly. It's good and consistent, and it probably will be a good contender for a Tier 2 deck in the format with the pushing power that it has. It's no Ominagruzio for sure, but it probably ekes out the other Masques decks in this set for now.
