12 Miriam and Aaron began to talk against Moses because of his Cushite wife, for he had married a Cushite. 2 “Has the Lord spoken only through Moses?” they asked. “Hasn’t he also spoken through us?” And the Lord heard this.
3 (Now Moses was a very humble man, more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth.)
4 At once the Lord said to Moses, Aaron and Miriam, “Come out to the tent of meeting, all three of you.” So the three of them went out. 5 Then the Lord came down in a pillar of cloud; he stood at the entrance to the tent and summoned Aaron and Miriam. When the two of them stepped forward, 6 he said, “Listen to my words:
“When there is a prophet among you,
I, the Lord, reveal myself to them in visions,
I speak to them in dreams.
7 But this is not true of my servant Moses;
he is faithful in all my house.
8 With him I speak face to face,
clearly and not in riddles;
he sees the form of the Lord.
Why then were you not afraid
to speak against my servant Moses?”
12 1-3 Although Moses was the most humble person in all the world, Miriam and Aaron started complaining, “Moses had no right to marry that woman from Ethiopia![a] Who does he think he is? The Lord has spoken to us, not just to him.”
The Lord heard their complaint 4 and told Moses, Aaron, and Miriam to come to the entrance of the sacred tent. 5 There the Lord appeared in a cloud and told Aaron and Miriam to come closer. 6 Then after commanding them to listen carefully, he said:
“I, the Lord, speak to prophets
in visions and dreams.
7 But my servant Moses
is the leader of my people.
8 He sees me face to face,
and everything I say to him
is perfectly clear.
You have no right to criticize
my servant Moses.”

12 María y Aarón hablaron contra Moisés a causa de la mujer cusita que había tomado; porque él había tomado mujer cusita. 2 Y dijeron: ¿Solamente por Moisés ha hablado Jehová? ¿No ha hablado también por nosotros? Y lo oyó Jehová. 3 Y aquel varón Moisés era muy manso, más que todos los hombres que había sobre la tierra. 4 Luego dijo Jehová a Moisés, a Aarón y a María: Salid vosotros tres al tabernáculo de reunión. Y salieron ellos tres. 5 Entonces Jehová descendió en la columna de la nube, y se puso a la puerta del tabernáculo, y llamó a Aarón y a María; y salieron ambos. 6 Y él les dijo: Oíd ahora mis palabras. Cuando haya entre vosotros profeta de Jehová, le apareceré en visión, en sueños hablaré con él. 7 No así a mi siervo Moisés, que es fiel en toda mi casa. 8 Cara a cara hablaré con él, y claramente, y no por figuras; y verá la apariencia de Jehová. ¿Por qué, pues, no tuvisteis temor de hablar contra mi siervo Moisés?
12 María y Aarón hablaron contra Moisés a causa de la mujer cusita que había tomado, porque él había tomado por mujer a una cusita. 2 Ellos dijeron:
—¿Acaso solo por medio de Moisés ha hablado el SEÑOR? ¿No ha hablado también por medio de nosotros?
Y lo oyó el SEÑOR. 3 Moisés era un hombre muy manso, más manso que todos los hombres que había sobre la faz de la tierra. 4 Repentinamente el SEÑOR dijo a Moisés, a Aarón y a María:
—Vayan ustedes tres al tabernáculo de reunión.
Y fueron los tres. 5 Entonces el SEÑOR descendió en una columna de nube, se detuvo a la entrada del tabernáculo y llamó a Aarón y a María. Ellos dos se acercaron, 6 y él les dijo:
—Oigan mis palabras: Si tuvieran un profeta del SEÑOR, yo me manifestaría a él en visión o hablaría con él en sueños. 7 No es así con mi siervo Moisés, quien es fiel en toda mi casa. 8 Cara a cara hablo con él, en persona[a], y no por enigmas. Y él contempla la apariencia del SEÑOR. ¿Por qué, pues, no tuvieron temor de hablar contra mi siervo, contra Moisés?
