I took this course to fulfill one of my honors experiences. This was a seminar styled class that discussed media and its role in society. I learned about the effect’s media has on audience members and how to critically analyze media's rhetoric. The class was very interactive, and discussion based which helped me put into practice the concepts I had learned. Throughout the semester we had questions of the day which sparked open conversations, there were reading quizzes which reinforced the concepts we had read the night before, and we had reflections that allowed us to process and take key understandings away from the week prior. Throughout the semester we had two guest speakers who helped us understand what careers in the media field looked like and how to start working towards our future careers in college. There were many projects assigned throughout the semester that instructed us to take the media that we consume and to apply the effects we had learned to them. Under this subject there are subtabs that describe the major assignments I completed throughout this course. This class has taught me how to think more critically about the media I consume and has helped me to become more knowledgeable about the effects it has on me.
