Concert Chorus is our choral ensemble for grades 4-5. Students rehearse as separate grade levels at first, and then over time the two grades will combine for full rehearsal.
Concert Chorus rehearsals take place on Thursdays (5th) and Fridays (4th).
Chorale is our choral ensemble for grades 6-8. Students in Chorale attend full rehearsal as well as weekly small-group lessons.
Chorale rehearsals take place on Wednesdays.
All students will:
Sing and listen to music of varied genres, languages, tonalities, and subjects
Demonstrate proper singing technique for posture, breathing, and vowel shaping
Build skills needed for music literacy through the use of solfege syllables and hand signs
Develop as artists by forming musical opinions and making musical decisions
In addition, students in Chorale will:
Decode simple key signatures and identify where 'do' lies on the staff
Practice sightreading in both major and la-based minor
Demonstrate more advanced singing techniques for modifying vowels
