Here is the drawing of our work of art before the changes made according to the suggestions from the Greek Team. What we wanted to do since the beginning of our work of art is to bring something new and try to create a link between different cultures, in particular the oriental culture that is just a little present in the project.
The waves represent the trend of life that can mislead the human mind transforming calm and the quiet into a storm that causes sufference, sorrow and pain. Pain on the other hand can generate a new overwhelming power, which unconsciously leads man to rebirth. The waves represent the difficulties of life, while the phoenix, a mythological animal that rises from its ashes, represents hope.
It is not an original work because it is the union between two works of the same artist, Katsushika Hokusai.
According to the decision made by the Greek team, we have worked a lot on the request of change wanted by them. First of all we made a change in the dimension leaving 40 cm of space on each side of the elevator in order not to damage the drawing. Therefore the proportions of the wall design went through plenty slight changes. The major change was the synthesis between the two different works which was suggested by the Greek team.
Unluckily we couldn't develop a solution above the elevator as it would not have harmony at the end of the work, but we wanted to satisfy the desire of the greek team of merging the two works. We centred the phoenix to fill in the space that was left blank between the two parts of work. It was decided to let the phoenix rise from the waves as if it is escaping from pain and evil. for this reason it ends up to be the protagonist of the work of art as desired from the greek team and as they said "We need hope- we live pain in our everyday life"
The final project is realized with the technique of watercolor up on the cardboard appropriate for the technique. When it will be realized with the real measures we'll use the wallpaper and the work will be painted with acrylics to make the painting brighter. At the end the work will be divided into four parts to ease the installation on the wall and each of the four parts will be numbered.
The main colors present in the work are blue, red and yellow therefore the primary colors.
The drawing presents movements which make it dynamic. However the sensation of movement is given by the phoenix that is opposed to the waves. The final project is realized with the technique of watercolor up on the cardboard appropriate for the technique.
In addition, with the collaboration of our architeture lab, we created a CAD 3D project using a specific software such as Archicad. The project has been created using realistic measurements given by the Greek team.To make it even more realistic photoshop has been used for the post production.
Moreover for the creation of the model we made use of a piece of plywood thick 5mm, colored with acrylics to reproduce the texture of the floor utilizing hinges to connect the floor and the wall. To reproduce the work on the plywood model we used an acetate sheet.
