"Villa Regina Margherita"

Location: Vibo Valentia

The "Villa Regina Margherita", better known as "Villa Comunale", is located in via Corso Umberto I. It is located in the upper side of the small town of Vibo Valentia. The magnificent Villa Regina Margherita covers a distance of 1 km from the city center. It is possible to reach this latter through multiple paths, in each of which you can see a piece of history. In fact, it is as if you get into a time machine that, in the blink of an eye, transports you to a completely different era where remote buildings and vast green spaces replace the cold modern buildings.

Villa Regina Margherita is also visible in our map:

Our choice fell on this place because it is very popular with the locals, who see this environment a meeting place where you can come in close contact with nature. Striking is the image that the viewer is watching. Lights and shadows create a play of color that fascinates and captures the viewer projecting it to distant memories with the screams of children in the background. It is a place where the past re-emerges from the various sculptures that adorn the small green flower beds.

But even us who belong to the generation 2.0 would like one day to be remembered. A work with which to stop time to the present day, that would unite the past with the present. In a society where xenophobia is, unfortunately, still widespread, we think that this work can cotribute to overcome national barriers, to help people understand that before being Italian, French, Germans, Greeks or Finns, we are citizens of the World.

We opted for the hedge highlighted in blue because it possesses peculiar features, such as the unique exposure to light, the old trees of majestic entities, plants of many different species as well as for ist size.

These are two sketches made by students who attend the laboratory of visual arts. The first one is a sketch, made with a charcoal pencil, while the second one is made with watercolor. The materials used allow to create a contrast between light and shadow .
