"Art is not what you see, but what you make others see" Edgar Degas

The following report was written by Italian student Ivonne Evalto.

On November 12th, we went to Paris to carry out the first phase of the project "Erasmus+ Art and Space in the City". To get settled into families who welcomed us it took about 48 hours but it was worth it. Monday November 14th we went to high school in the city “Les Queue les Yvelines” where at 8:30 the teachers of all the countries introduced themselves to pupils participating in the project. Then we did the ice-breaker activities to increase socialization among us. After a short break we started the logo contest to the select the representative logo of the project by voting: every country had to establish a ranking of the proposed logos by assigning 3.2 or 1 point.

Later the presentation of the website took place and we watched the videos offered by each country to show their city and the surrounding areas. At the end we filled in a summary sheet of the activity. After lunch we attended a lecture on the concept of perspectives by applying what we have learned. From 15:30 to 17:30 there was a meeting with the mayor who explained us the history of the city and its artistic and cultural side. At the end we returned to our homes entering in contact with the life of the country that hosted us.

Tuesday, November 15 was a day dedicated to the vision of street art in the 13th district of the French capital. We admired the works of many representatives of the world of graffiti, also Blust, Miss.Tic, CMBO and Seth.

The following day, Wednesday 16th November , we arrived at school with our correspondents and we witnessed a lesson about anamorphism , consolidating the knowledge learned by carrying out exercises. At 10:45 we received directives on the conduct of the debate in which each group would have to present a project whose aim was to improve the artistic aspect of a city. During this debate we have chosen projects to be submitted. When finished, we got back in the dwellings for a further approach with French culture.

Thursday 17th November, through a bus, we went in the magnificent French capital where we visited the artistic emblem of the country: The Louvre. Here we had the opportunity to admire the works of artists such as Daniele Da Volterra, Leonardo Da Vinci, Delacroix and Jacques Luis. Subsequently, we were guided in other significant places of Paris (Obelisk, Pyramid of the Louvre, Arc de Triomphe, the Volwes Tree), thanks to which we understood better the placement of arts facilities in specific areas.

On the last day, Friday 18th November, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. we visited La Tannerie, an art gallery located in Houdan and we discussed about the organization of this gallery . After arriving at school, we have witnessed a lesson inherent the Parisian art. Finished lunch until 5.00 p.m. we have dedicated ourselves to the decoration of the model of a city, the aim of the first stage of the project "Erasmus + Art and Space in the City". Finally, we spent the evening together to celebrate the work done in the five-day stay in Wonderful France.
