In Year 12 of Big Picture, we undertake a large, in-depth Senior Project. For my Senior Project, I investigated the aerodynamic differences between two race car airfoils using CAD and CFD software.
At MARC Cars Australia, my place of internship, we use two different types of rear wing on the IRC GTSS, however there has been no research conducted looking into which specification of wing has better performance qualities.
My project aimed to close this gap in knowledge by providing MARC with a detailed report on the lift and drag coefficients of each wing.
This project has been probably the hardest thing I have ever done, not just in Big Picture, but in my whole life. Throughout my time in Big Picture, I have struggled to complete my projects, but I was determined to fight through with this project, no matter how difficult it got.
Despite how difficult it was, it was truly worth it and I haven't been more proud of a piece of work ever before.
Throughout this project I have been working closely with my place of internship, MARC Cars Australia.
Academic Mentors
I have been lucky enough to have been able to use the knowledge of my 3 academic mentors to help me with my Senior Thesis Project.
