At April's Doula Services, our vision is to provide compassionate End-of-Life Doula Support to individuals and families throughout the Delmarva Peninsula. As our Delmarva services continue to grow, we look forward to offering the same heart-centered, non-medical support that families have come to trust in Upstate South Carolina.

Many people associate the word doula with birth—but doulas also serve families at the other end of life's journey.
An End-of-Life Doula is a trained professional who provides non-medical emotional, practical, and compassionate support to individuals nearing the end of life and to the people who love them.
We work alongside hospice, palliative care teams, physicians, clergy, and family caregivers, complementing the care already in place while helping families navigate this deeply personal season with confidence and peace.
Sometimes our role is simply to sit quietly with someone. Other times it's helping organize final wishes, creating meaningful legacy projects, or giving exhausted caregivers the opportunity to rest.

For more than 30 years, April has had the privilege of serving families through pastoral ministry, birth work, postpartum care, and end-of-life support. Today, she brings that experience to April's Doula Services by mentoring and equipping a team of compassionate professionals who share her commitment to providing exceptional, heart-centered care.

We meet you where you are—emotionally, spiritually, and practically—and work alongside your family to create a plan that honors your loved one's wishes, values, and goals.
Our role is never to direct decisions but to support them with compassion, dignity, and respect.

During your consult we'll discuss your support needs. (ie: Planning final days and moments, Create Legacy Projects, Companion Care, Funeral Arrangement Help, etc.)
After your consult & you've decided we're the right fit for you, Get in touch to verify availability & complete the Client Contract.
Once you've signed the Client Contract and paid the 50% retainer, your spot is reserved on our calendar and the balance is due before support begins.
We'll be in touch periodically but we'll wait to hear from you when you decide you're ready for your support to begin.
*Support dates are reserved on a first come basis. Your spot on our calendar is reserved once you have completed the contract and your 50% retainer is received.

One of the greatest gifts we offer is simply our presence.
Whether during the quiet hours of the day or through the stillness of the night, we provide a peaceful, reassuring presence that may include:
Sitting vigil with your loved one
Quiet companionship
Gentle conversation—or comfortable silence
Reading meaningful passages or scripture
Prayer, if requested
Gentle touch or handholding
Basic comfort measures within the doula scope of practice
Allowing caregivers time to rest knowing someone is present

An End-of-Life Doula does not replace hospice or medical providers.
Instead, we often fill the spaces that traditional healthcare cannot—providing additional time, presence, emotional support, and practical assistance before hospice begins, throughout hospice care, or whenever families simply need another compassionate person beside them.

We'll be in touch throughout your pregnancy, but can't wait to hear from you when you go into labor!
Once baby arrives, we'll schedule your first postpartum support shift!
