Tobacco use is the world’s leading cause of preventable death, according to the World Health Organisation. The tobacco epidemic is one of the biggest public health threats the world has ever faced. All forms of tobacco are harmful. Tobacco doesn’t just affect the health of individuals, it also endangers the health of the environment. Cigarette waste, makes it’s way into the environment where it ends up polluting water, air, and land with toxic chemicals.

It is every individual’s responsibility to fight this global menace. The tobacco cessation centre in Indira Gandhi Institute of Dental Sciences is sincerely committed in this combat against Tobacco. And on this World No Tobacco Day it gives me immense satisfaction to be writing this message for our E Magazine ‘Plexure’ - faith interwoven into hope, which is an attempt to create an awareness of Tobacco among all strata of people. Plexure is a compilation of tobacco effects on Humans and nature in a simple format for the better understanding even to an amateur. The digital platform has provided a new opportunity with it’s ease of access to information and also in it’s outreach to a large population to spread this righteous message.

I extend my gratitude to Our committed management, Principal, Vice Principal, Chief operating officer, all the head of the departments, dedicated teachers, non teaching staff, our enthusiastic students and our ardent alumni for their support and contribution to this E Magazine. 

It is extremely gratifying in bringing out this E Magazine a small venture in educating, motivating and quitting tobacco. I request every reader to take it up as a personal commitment in conveying this noble message by spreading the Weblink of this E Magazine amongst family and friends.
