Youth Committee Chair (Example)
This is a job description template example created to help define the role for each committee chair.
We are seeking a dynamic world class youth leader who knows how to organize and motivate young people, between the ages of 15 and 22, to action. The right candidate is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on youth programs and leadership and should already have a proven audience of real followers on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube or other social media platforms. Our ideal person should also have a portfolio of accomplishments which show a track record of getting young people to become involved and committed to a cause.
The successful candidate should have a master's in education, business management, organizational management, or similar field. Even better would be a PhD or a PhD candidate. You must be able to start on 6/1/2018, and you must be available to lend your name and credibility to this project, prior to this date. Life experience or accomplishments can be used in lieu of advanced degrees.
This is a 25 week project. 960 hours of commitment over the course of 7 months. You must spend at least 560 hours in Indy, working closely with 11 other world-class core team members. The balance of your time you can telecommute. We are less concerned about where you live, although living in Indianapolis would be a great benefit. We are more concerned about delivery.
This project is on an intense timeline. Our candidate has 6 months to deliver their committee's results.
Your committee is responsible for:
- Creating a complete youth engagement package to support the overall objectives of the project.
- Organize: town halls; meeting with youth and parents; youth oriented media events; etc.
- Evaluate the work of team members and volunteers to ensure that programs are of appropriate quality and that resources are used effectively.
- Provide direct service and support to team members, volunteers, solutions providers, such as handling a referral, conducting a needs evaluation, or resolving conflicts.
- Recruit, interview, and hire or sign up volunteers and staff.
- Establish and maintain relationships with other youth oriented organizations in community to meet community needs and to ensure that project objectives can be met.
- Establish and oversee administrative procedures to meet objectives set by boards of directors or the executive committee.
- Direct activities of professional and technical staff members and volunteers relating to the youth committee's core objectives. Plan and administer budgets for programs, equipment, and support services.
- Participate in the determination of organizational objectives regarding such issues as participant eligibility, program requirements, and program benefits.
- Prepare and maintain records and reports, such as budgets, personnel records, or training manuals.
- Research and analyze member or community needs to determine program directions and goals. Implement and evaluate staff, volunteer, or community training programs. Represent organizations in relations with governmental and media institutions.
- Act as a consultant to project staff and other community programs regarding the interpretation of program-related federal, state, and county regulations and policies.
- Speak to community groups to explain and interpret project purposes, programs, and objectives.
- Analyze proposed legislation, regulations, or rule changes to determine how project objectives could be impacted.

Salary: $4,500.00 to $6,500.00 /week
