Component 3.b: Plan and implement progressive and sequential content that aligns with short and long-term plan objectives and that addresses the diverse needs of all students
Artifact: Individualized Education Plan
Date: Spring 2021
Reflection:
In PED 356, I wrote an IEP as part of the planning process for a student I was working with. This was a good way to begin to learn how I can plan and implement for students diverse needs in my future PE classes. It was my first time every writing an IEP and I feel as if it was a major step in my development as a Phys. Ed. teacher because it broaded my horizon in planning lessons. When I will inevitably have to write IEP's in the future, I will be able to refer back to this to help guide me through the process.
This IEP relates to Component 3.b in that it shows how I have learned to plan sequential content with different objectives for the needs of diverse students. Being able to plan in this manner is important for a physical educator because I am going to need to have an inclusive environment for a wide range of students. No matter what the student's need, I will be prepared to plan for them accordingly based on knowledge of how to write IEP's. It gives me the confidence I need to feel well rounded in my planning and implimentation of lessons that fit the needs of all students. Without this IEP I would have a hard time understanding the specifics that go into planning for a student who would need an individual plan.
