Component 2.b Achieve and maintain a health-enhancing level of fitness throughout the program.
Artifact: FitnessGram Assessment Scores and FITT Planning
Date: Spring 2022
Reflection:
In PED 382, we tested for our FitnessGram scores. Once we got our scores, we put together a three week plan to improve in areas of our choice utilizing the FITT (Frequency, Intensity, Time and Type) Principle. The fitness components I decided to center my plan around were cadriorespatory fitness and muscular strength and endurance. This was an interesting assignment because it gave me feedback on where I am fitness wise and it helped me understand how to assess somebodies fitness level, and implement ways for them to improve on it. It also showed that I have a healthy level of fitness while in the PE Program.
This fits into component 2.b because it shows that I am in the healthy fitness zone for push-ups, curl-ups, and sit and reach, while also showing a plan to improve on the Pacer score, as well as my push-up score. Maintaining a health-enhancing level of fitness is important for me as a physical educator because I want to be able to teach my students how to be healthy and fit while being healthy and fit myself. This artifact shows that I am and that I can plan on how to improve somebody's fitness level which is something that I will consistently be doing in the world of Physical Education. It shows my understanding of how general fitness concepts work which is something every Physical Educator should know.
