Artifact: Biomechanics Lab Research Project
Date: Spring 2020
Reflection:
This project was done as a final in my Biomechanics Lab. It was done to analyze a movement of your choosing that we have had previous expeirence with. It was split up into 3 separate parts that would each have their own challenges. A literature review, a PowerPoint breaking down the literature review, and a video poriton analyzing the movement of your choosing. The powerpoint was a reflection of the literature review and the video was a good way to examine how I perform the movement and understand each component of the movement. I chose to do mine on swinging a baseball bat because I really enjoy baseball and thought it would be a fun and interesting movement to break down and analyze.
This research project relates to Component 1.c in that it describes a biomechanical movement and breaks the skill down into its specific parts. Each portion goes into depth about swinging a baseball bat and all of the different components of it. This artifact and component are important to my development as a teacher because it helped me understand a movement skill down to its most basic parts and explain it in a concise manner. This will help me do similar things in my future PE classes. Being able to recall from my research from this project will always be something I value and was a big step in my development in the field of movement and movement science.
