In Memoriam : Dr Hildesuse Gaertner
Hildesuse Gaertner died very suddenly on her birthday on Wednesday 10th February.
“ Susi” was part and parcel of our club and had been such a very loyal member and friend of the club from the very beginning, always supporting its aims of Anglo-German friendship. For many years she was a dear friend to Dorothy. She delighted our club with her numerous and varied and always highly interesting talks and slides. The last years with her increased mobility problems had made it difficult for her to attend but she always made every effort to come especially when Guildford visitors were there. Many of you in the club, too, very kindly offered to collect her after she no longer drove herself and she was very grateful for that. At the Christmas party in December she was in great form and was as always in deep animated political conversation, in fact so much so, she nearly missed out on singing the carols! We shall really miss her and her enthusiasm and interest in life was and is an example to us all.
God Bless you Susi.
We have conveyed our sincerest condolences on behalf of the club to Dr Armin Bergfeld and all the family.
